Celebrating the Launch of Fashion Island
Today SIEDC is proud to unveil the selected sketches of the "Sketch your Style" design competition, each inspired by a Staten Island site, such as the Alice Austen House, the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art, Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden, and other Staten Island treasures!
The selected designers have worked tirelessly to create ONE-OF-A-KIND custom garments that will be featured in the Fashion Island runway show the evening of September 8th at the Richmond County Savings Foundation Tuscan Garden at Snug Harbor Cultual Center & Botanical Garden. These items, in addition to donated designer outfits and accessories, will be up for bid in a live auction that evening as well. Minimum bids start at 10% of the retail value, so you may be able to get a designer dress worth $2,000 for only $200. Also, we invite the public to join us for a free Fashion Island event on September 7th in the Center Court at the Staten Island Mall. View the custom garments inspired by Staten Island for the first time. vote for your top 3 favorite designs and be entered to win seats to a show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and gift cards to retailers, such as Banana Republic. We also encourage you to clean out your closet, and bring clothing donations on-site to benefit the local Salvation Army!
